They’re (Still) Heeeeeere!

Just as Russia sowed discord among Democrats during the 2016 presidential campaign, Politico reports that a wide-ranging disinformation campaign aimed at Democratic 2020 candidates is already underway on social media, with signs that foreign state actors are driving at least some of the activity.

It’s never really been clear to me if all Democrats understood that Russia didn’t really try to turn liberal voters conservative -- or the other way around --, but rather turned liberals sour on the Democratic candidates, which chipped away at voter turnout just enough in three hitherto reliably blue states called Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. (The first person say say Debbie Wasserman Schultz wins the argument!)

Despite all the indictments of bad actors doing these things, there doesn’t seem to be a lot that can be done to stop it.

All we can do is be vigilant about not falling for it again - - and remind your friends to focus on what they like about the 2020 candidates rather than dwell on the negatives of the ones they don’t.

Whoever gets the democratic nomination will get my vote even if it is Bernie Sanders who I expect would be a useless president as he wouldn’t have a lot of friends in Congress.

2020 will be decided by voter turnout. Trump carried PA by 49,000 votes in 2016. In Philadelphia over 550,000 democrats voted out of a pool on over 770,000. There was no get out the vote effort to speak of in 2016 as it was assumed PA was a sure thing. In 2020 assume nothing.

They never went away, and never will. Time to get serious about regulation.
