Weekend Tennis Roundup

Hard to write a comprehensive tennis roundup when we are midway through the first major of the year. But suffice to say it's been an exciting week, with Frances Tiafoe and Stefanos Tsitsipas finally delivering on some Next Gen promise with their wins over Grigor Dmitirov and Roger Federer, respectively. How I'd love to see one of them win it all.

And while Serena Williams is looking unstoppable -- as with the Big Three, when is it enough? -- I won't exactly be disappointed if she ends up tying Margaret Court's apples-to-oranges record on the stadium that bears the homophobe's name.

UPDATE: All credit to Simona Halep for coming back from a disastrous first set to give Serena a real run for her money. The GOAT was too good to overcome, but I have a newfound respect for the Romanian pipsqueak’s game -- and box.

Wasn't happy about Danielle Collins's win over Angie Kerber. The two-two NCAA champ, who reminds me of a millennial Bonnie Gadusek -- may play in a diaper. But it’s hard to argue with what’s in her box ...

Milos Raonic made Alexander Zrerev look like a "major" fool again. But as I said before, any chance to see what's in the Balkan Canadian's box is fine with me.

The Croatia-Serbia battle between Borna Coric and Filip Krajinovic was a sight to behold. Glad Borna pulled it out. Next up is Luca Pouille in what promises to be the Battle of the Bubble Butts.

And ... did you see Ash Barty edge out Maria Sharapova?

How many legends can you name?

UPDATE 2:

Pouille came from a set down to beat Coric. Starting to think the Croat might not have what it takes to go to the next level. Weird how many players have problematic forehands these days, from Borna and Benoit to the hitches on Tiafoe, Khachanov and even Medvedev.

ughhh.. Borna lost that's a drag...but the Frenchy with the oversized behind was the better player...barely.
