Midweek Tennis Update

I've had a hard time looking past the hair, but this photo of Denis Shapovalov sure caught my eye.

Still, Kyle Edmund didn't let the Canadian's legs distract him too much, beating Shapovalov 6-7, 7-6, 6-4 in a high-quality battle in Brisbane.
And though Nick Kryrgios defeated fellow Aussie Matt Ebden in their second-round match, everyone felt like a winner watching him "play." (Mischa Zverev and Milos Raonic were also knocked out.)

Dancing in the new year: How many HOT MEN does Karolina Pliskova need?

Meanwhile in Doha, Dominic "you can touch me but I won't touch you, fish" Thiem defeated Slovenian Aljaž Bedene to advance to the quarterfinals.

I'm pretty sure that's the same glove he insists on wearing when in bed with Kristina Mladenovic. (Poor Rico!)

And fellow dreamboat Borna Coric advanced to the quarterfinals, defeating Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-1, 6-3. Next up is 20-year-old Russian Andrey Rublev.

I did not know who Kyle Edmund was until that match. He now has my full attention for reasons that goes beyond his game.
