Although this college band came of age right in my sweet spot, I'd never heard of them until a coworker sent me this. Apparently their single "74-75" was even a big hit in the U.K.

God, I loved the Connells! Their entire catalogue was great, but the "Boylan Heights" album was a masterpiece.
I guess that the same time you were into gurl groups like the Bangles and the Go-Go's--and how come "Go-Go's" has never turned up as one of your occasional postings about "interesting" punctuation, btw?--I was onto the Chapel Hill/Austin/Athens jangle pop of the Connells, Let's Active, R.E.M, and Guadalcanal Diary.
The 80s were my musical Golden Age. I practically loved at the 9:30 Club in DC.
