Barracuda Celebrates 20 Years in Chelsea

Excited to announce that Barracuda -- where Jackie Beat got her start and Candis Cayne got her boobs and nose job -- will be celebrating its 20th anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 18, with a celebration featuring both ladies, plus Sherry Vine, Shasta Cola, Shequida and others!

From a release:
Barracuda, the ground-breaking club that set a new standard for gay nightlife, will celebrate two triumphant decades with a massive anniversary celebration on Sunday, Oct. 18. Some of the world’s most innovative drag queens – who became superstars on the Barracuda stage - are scheduled to perform. Among them, Candis Cayne, Sherry Vine, Jackie Beat, Shasta Cola, Hedda Lettuce, Sweetie, Edie, Peppermint, Tina Burner, Marti Gould Cummings, Busted, Al & Patty, Pixie Aventura, Flotilla DeBarge, Miz Cracker, Bob The Drag Queen, and Shequida. There will also be special tributes to the late greats Cashetta and Stephen Heighton. Barracuda’s 20th Anniversary Celebration takes place on Sunday, Oct. 18th from 7 p.m. to midnight at 275 W 22nd St.
Barracuda opened in October 1995 by best friends Bob Pontarelli and the late Stephen Heighton, the same team behind the legendary Crowbar on Avenue B; Elmo Restaurant in Chelsea; Industry, the leading gay bar in Hell’s Kitchen today; and Leshko's, the former East Village staple landmark.

Hope to see you there!

Oh my! I was at the opening night party! I'm thrilled some places have dodged the real estate bullet!

With all the bars that have come and gone in Manhattan, it's great to know that Barracuda is still going strong. I spent a wonderful low-key New Years Eve there back in the late '90s. I don't remember all of the performers that night, but two of them were Hedda Lettuce and Mackenzie Phillips. Good times!
