It seems implausible that anyone can derail Serena Williams' Grand Slam ambitions. But if there were one person I'd like to see do it, it would be big sis and head cheerleader Venus, whose run to the quarterfinals at age 35 is nothing short of spectacular. Either way, here's hoping for a high-quality match between two great champions, the likes of which the U.S. is unlikely to ever see again.

I was rooting for Serena's Grand Slam until Venus made it to face Serena and now I want Venus to win. I thought Wimbledon was her last best chance for another major, but maybe now this is it. Serena will never get a chance for the Slam, but will have more chances to get majors. This could be Venus' last chance, and with her health issues, she is, for me, a major sentimental favorite.
It certainly won't happen, but I'd love to see Venus win today. Undoubtedly, Serena is an amazing player, and perhaps an even better athlete.
I just don't see the feat of her achieving the Grand Slam on par with Steffi's back in the day. The state of women's tennis just isn't that strong anymore; I've never seen players more inconsistent in my life, and when the high seeds can often barely make it out of the early rounds of a major tournament, it says something. Steffi had to beat some strong talent on the way.
