If I was able to look away from this man's heinous act of violence, I can't say I've been equally successful not looking at details about what led up to it. What a narcissistic piece of shit. Most memorable line from detailed article about his troubled life: "[Vester] Flanagan threw cat feces at neighbors, had a large sex toy trove, drove like a maniac and covered his fridge with photos of himself."

Maybe it is just me, but if I were planning on going out and killing a few people, getting involved in a police chase and then killing myself before getting taken alive ... I probably would have gotten rid of my trove of sex toys and porn first. Just sayin'.
Not to excuse his actions, but there was most likely some undiagnosed/untreated mental illness with this man. We're still paying the price of Reagan's sick ideology.
@Mike: You're probably right -- definitely about Reagan -- although I don't really count Narcissistic Personality Disorder as a legitimate mental illness. I think it just makes you a horrible prick.
His namesake father was an NFL player and lives in Vallejo California. ( top corner of San Francisco Bay). Neighbors interviewed on TV said that when the son lived there he was very nice but the father never spoke a word about the son to them only about his daughter.
........ It's often difficult when the son was named after the father but is nothing like him. Add in football player and potentially Black church member with Gay and you can start to see where the kid went South
