The music is from the O'Jays' "Backstabbers," but the lyrics are all Angie. That's why it feels reminiscent.
It sounds like it may have sampled "Back Stabbers" by the O'Jays ... perhaps that is what you are hearing?
I actually quite like her material even though I'm not that into R&B oldies. This song was such a hit tho! :)
