Song of the Day: 'Seems Like Old Times' by Diane Keaton

Have been slowly rewatching all of my favorite Woody Allen movies in recent weeks and while I still give the slight edge to "Manhattan" as my all-time favorite, there's no scene where Diane Keaton is more luminescent than this one from last night's rerun, the groundbreaking and still-heartwarming "Annie Hall."

One of my favorite Woody Allen/Diane Keaton films.

People have forgotten the impact of "Annie Hall" -- every department store had an Annie Hall shop in its accessory dept, with hats, ties, belts, etc. (she wore her own clothes in the movie). I went for decades without seeing the picture again, then rented it. Halfway through, I found myself exclaiming, "No wonder this won the Oscar"
Movie lore says that Woody was shooting a movie about angst, "Anhedonia", when his co-writer, Marshall Brinkman, observed what Diane was doing onscreen, and they changed the script to make it a love story, and named it after her character.

I also stumbled across Annie Hall on TV this past weekend, catching it just before the scene you mention. What a great film, easily one of my favorites by any director.
