Song of the Day: 'Gloria' by Laura Branigan

This one makes me smile for many reasons: Although we lost the talented chanteuse way too early, I always think of hearing "Gloria" in the car with my brothers and friend Greg when we'd go play tennis together growing up in Arizona -- and also because my ex-boyfriend Michael told a hilarious story of going to Mexico with his sister Rosie in the early '80s and hearing the hotel-lounge band sing it OVER and OVER and OVER, with their thick Spanish accent:

Gloria (Gloria): I think they got ju number (Gloria) ...
I think they got ju alias (Gloria) ... that you've been living under

Incidentally: I'm not exactly Mr. Theater, but my friend Chad told me about a play by the same name that he thought I would like. It's down to its final week of performances and wouldn't you know it, it's sold out tonight when I wanted to go. (I have a comp day from working on Sunday.) If anyone can pull some strings at the Vineyard Theatre here in NYC< please let me know. The website seems to hint there are a few extra seats for select people -- would love to be selected!

Did you know that Laura's real birth year was 1952? Laura wasn't always polite with her age, though it was easier to be 25 instead of 30 yo in 1982. So after after a while 1957 became a false true, which today is almost impossible to set in order.
