Song of the Day: 'The Metro' by Berlin

People are always surprised to hear I'm not much of a Berlin fan. I know, they seem right up my alley. But everything they did Missing Persons did better, and it was all pretty much downhill after this song. Oh, and it didn't help that "No More Words" stole "Rush Rush" by Debbie Harry's beat ... and thunder!

I saw them once in concert and they were terrible. So bad in fact I thought there was something wrong with the sound system since I was unfamiliar with the venue. But nope The Thompson Twins came out after and they were great which only made Berlin seem all the worse.

I loved Berlin! "Sex" and "Metro" were irresistible. Saw them at a show on the GWU campus at their peak.

I also saw them on a VH1 show called "Bands Reunited," about 10 years ago, and discovered that Terri Nunn had, amazingly, become even hotter than she was in the 80s.

BTW, David Diamond, Berlin's keyboard guy, was v openly gay at a time when that was still relatively rare. Someone asked him what he'd like inscribed on his tombstone, and he said: "Here lies David Diamond...underneath Tom Cruise."

Uh... then how did they get Song of the day??
I love Berlin... especially their first album. I saw them live a few times in the 80's. It's all about Terri Nunn!!
