Seeing Purple

A big congratulations to my pal Jacob Langfelder for his show "Dearly Beloved," an over-the-top tribute at 42West marking the 30th anniversary of Prince's "Purple Rain." Featuring Tony nominee Robin de Jesús as his Purple Majesty and Tony winner Lena Hall as Apollonia, the gig featured all of the film's best-known songs -- "When Doves Cry," "I Would Die 4 U," "Take Me With U" and the title track -- plus lesser-remembered numbers by Apollonia 6 ("Sex Shooter"), Morris Day and the Time ("The Bird," "Jungle Love") and Dez Dickerson ("Modernaire"), and was a feel-good extravaganza from the second the Midget of Minneapolis rode in on his motorcycle. These photos were shot by my friend Matt, who has plenty more where they came from plus a full review HERE!

He would die 4 her
