Double Fault

6 Top Women’s Tennis Players of All Time

I love Chris Evert more than most people -- incuding her parents -- but ranking her above Martina Navratilova and Serena Williams on an all-time best list? Come on! Totally cool with Steffi Graf on top, though. Read HERE.

I never like these lists. I don't think I would rate either Steffi or Monica that high - Monica because her career was cut short which impacted what she actually accomplished (not to take anything away from her but if she had had 3 more healthy strong years, pshew). Graf, I wouldn't rate as high because Monica's career was cut short. After that, it really didn't seem like there was anyone to contend with Steffi for years.

I'd much rather see a grouping kind of ranking - I'd put Chris, Martina, Stefi and probably Seles in the top grouping. If I didn't include Serena in the top grouping, she'd definitely be in the second grouping. Part of the reason I would rank Chris and Martina so high is the number of years that they performed so consistently and the fact that at the least, they were always good competition for each other not to mention the others they had to contend with - BJK, Goolagong, Austin, Sabatini, et al.

I'm a diehard Seles fan and glad they placed her at #2 but let's face it, Serena Williams is the greatest female tennis player of all time.

I don't know, Evert's winning percentage (greatest all-time, male or female) is pretty compelling...

WOW, who knew you had so many tennis fans "of a certain age"!!! I'm impressed. I had forgotten about Goolagong. She was a joy to watch.

It's very hard to compare players across different eras. Chris E. has said Serena was the best all time player ever.

Steffi was a very capable player but omg yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwn. So boring.
