GLAAD Media Awards Turn 25!

It might be time to retire this meme, no?

After attending an uproarious performance of "Celebrity Autobiography" at Stage 72 at the Triad -- Scott Adsit, Carol Kane, Alan Zweibel, Rachel Dratch, Janeane Garofalo and Debbie Harry were on fire, but of course Deb's reading Loni Anderson's "My Life in High Heels" was the highlight of my evening! --  I managed to arrive at the Waldorf-Astoria for the big 25th Annual GLAAD Awards just in time for George Takei to receive the Vito Russo award, and for Kylie Minogue to close out the night with a "Can't Get You Out of My Head" singalong. (A gaggle of gays including promoter Josh Wood nearly dropped the Aussie chanteuse lifting her into the crowd -- more time on the bench press and less in the steam room, guys!) At the after-party I met a bunch of people, including "Chelsea Lately" comedian Fortune Feimster and Derrick Gordon, the UMass sophomore who made history by becoming the first out NCAA division 1 basketball player. I asked him what position he played and he said "guard" -- before realizing that's not the arena I was curious about. (Still trying to figure out how I'm taller than a college basketball player, though!)

The rest of the night was a hoot drinking, dancing and catching up with dozens of friends and colleagues, where everyone looked their Sunday best on a Saturday night. Congrats on 25 great years, GLAAD. And here's to 25 more! More photos and videos HERE.

UPDATE: Boy Culture was there from the beginning and has a full red carpet/show report HERE.
