This has really got to be the craziest Wimbledon ever. Former champions Maria Sharapova and Roger Federer were both upset by unheralded players ranked in the 100s, while Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Victoria Azarenka both exited with injuries. (Sharapova lost to 131st-ranked Michelle Larcher de Brito, who had not won a Tour-level match this year.) The tournament also lost 2002 champion Lleyton Hewitt, who was ousted by 189th-ranked German qualifier Dustin Brown, 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-2. Hewitt had just made the semis of the tune-up, and upset 11th-seeded Stan Wawrinka. Also out: 10th-seeded Marin Cilic (walkover, left knee); 2006 quarterfinalist Radek Stepanek (retirement, left hamstring); and Yaroslava Shvedova (walkover, right arm).
The International Tennis Federation said the seven players forced out is believed to be the most in one day at any Grand Slam event in the 45 years of the Open era.

This Wimbledon is over for me. Perhaps I'll watch the final but that's it. Let's hope their beloved Murray takes the title.
