Serena Williams Defends Steubenville Rapists, Says Victim 'Maybe Wasn't a Virgin'

Wow, as if I didn't think little enough of Serena Williams' character. Listen to what she told Rolling Stone about the 16-year-old girl who was raped by two fellow jocks:
"Do you think it was fair, what they got? They did something stupid, but I don't know. I'm not blaming the girl, but if you're a 16-year-old and you're drunk like that, your parents should teach you—don't take drinks from other people," she told the magazine. "She's 16, why was she that drunk where she doesn't remember? It could have been much worse. She's lucky. Obviously I don't know, maybe she wasn't a virgin, but she shouldn't have put herself in that position, unless they slipped her something, then that's different."
Um, she got that drunk where she doesn't remember BECAUSE she's 16, you f**king moron -- and what does the victim's virginity have to do with anything. Truly disgusting words from another human being, much less another woman.

Great comment in the Deadspin comments section:

"I'm not saying Sharon Tate deserved to be disemboweled while 37 weeks pregnant, but if you're a 26 year old and you're hanging out with the Manson family, your pederast husband should teach you - only hang in Jack Nicholson's hot tub with a roofied 13 year old. It could've been much worse. Instead of being brutally murdered in the Hollywood Hills while pregnant, she could've been brutally murdered in Steubenville, Ohio while pregnant."

kenneth, i'm glad you posted the story, and i'm not knocking your commentary, but the first thing i thought - why is rolling stone asking a multi-million dollar athlete questions on legitimacy of a rape victims case?

she walked into that, and should have kept her mouth shut. next, let's hear her beliefs on religion and politics. just like the republicans have failed to learn, you never discuss rape publicly, period.

She's pure trash through and through.

I don't hear her saying that the rapists families should have taught them not to rape girls - regardless of their level of sobriety or sexual experience .

I'm sure there will be a non-apology apology sure to follow

What do you expect from Serena Williams. I have often wondered if she actually is a woman.
