BREAKING: Sandridge Food Corp and IQ Craft Stand by Paula Deen

In a news release, Sandridge Food Corp. says they're a "family company with strong Core Values "(caps theirs), and said in part:
As a family company with strong Core Values, Sandridge will continue to stand behind Paula Deen through this controversy. Sandridge will forge full speed ahead on present projects with the Paula Dean Foods team.
'Cause nothing says family values like using the n-word ...

Meanwhile, IQ Craft, another business associate of hers, says Paula Deen's initial comments were "mischaracterized and presented out of context," to which I can only say: WOW.

They issued the following statement:
As an enterprise whose members care deeply about a positive and just workplace, IQ Craft management has been closely monitoring the recent situation stemming from remarks made by Paula Deen. After a thorough review of the facts as well as its history with Paula Deen Foods, including Ms. Deen's appearance on the Today Show this morning, IQ Craft management believes that Ms. Deen's initial comments were mischaracterized and presented out of context and that her apology was sincere and consistent with the strength of character IQ Craft has grown to respect and admire in Paula. Actions speak louder than words. In our experience with Paula Deen, fairness, equality and compassion are at the root of every decision she makes. That is why we started doing business with Paula Deen Foods and why we remain proud of and committed to our professional affiliation going forward," says IQ Craft's President, John Joseph.

UPDATE: And now this:

Landies Candies has issued a support letter on behalf of Paula Deen.
"Paula, from all of us at Landies Candies, we admire your honesty, strength, and most of all who you are as person. Your interview this morning reaffirms who you really are and what you believe. We count it a privilege to be your friend and business partner, and look forward to sweet success in the future," said Larry Szrama, President of Landies Candies.

Not that I'm a Paula Deen fan, but you may want to read the deposition in which she admits using the word decades ago. When asked to give an example of when she might have used the word, she explained that she probably used it in describing to her husband the guy who put a gun to her head in a bank robbery. From what I read of the deposition, there was no evidence that there was "regular use".

Thanks for the this. It sounds like people she worked with think she did more than that, but I had not seen the deposition.

Thanks for your post. I was doing a search for the companies that issued statements of support so I can avoid their products. Epicurean Butter is also supporting her.

One thing that seems to be lost in the media coverage is the woman suing Paula Deen is white and one of her complaints is that Deen's brother calls her his "little Jew girl". So the argument Deen makes about using the "n" word once doesn't really mean much. And is probably a lie.

You should check out the suit with all the information about what her superclose associate/brother said and did with her full knowledge. It's a wow-inducer. Matt
