Picture This

You can imagine the double take I did when I spotted this today. Turns out it's not a book about Blondie, it's "Steal Her Style: Fashion Icones and How to Get Their Look" by Sarah Kennedy. (FYI: My birthday's in June, people.) The section on Debbie Harry is as fab as the cover shot would indicate. But what I find most fascinating is that this is a book that features Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Monroe, yet Debbie was the (obvious) choice for the cover, a singer who hasn't had a Top 40 hit in more than 30 years! See inside HERE.

And speaking of Blondie, has anyone gotten "Parallel Lives," Dick Porter and Kris Needs' "definitive eyewitness account of the group’s long and often tumultuous existence"? Not sure how I missed this one -- or which crack PR team failed to alert me -- but it's available now HERE!

And as if that those books weren't enough, Auntie Dasch alerted me to this recently uploaded clip of Debbie and Chris on "The Merv Griffin Show"! Blondie was at the height of their fame -- "Call Me" had just been named the Number 1 single of 1980 and "The Tide Is High" was raced to the top of the charts, too -- and Debbie never looked more beautiful. The best part of the clip, however, is when Merv tries to explain this "very unusual film" of one of the songs they're about to show -- aka a music video. Enjoy!

When I visit Manhattan every summer, I see no less than 5 Debbie Harry t-shirt wearing people walking the streets....and they're usually in their late teens or 20s. I always find that fascinating.

I got the book for the holidays. I didn't know about it either. I just started reading it.
