Dad Who Inspired 'Yours, Mine and Ours' Dies at 97

The second I saw the obituary headline "Frank Beardsley, 97, Storied Father of 20" I immediately thought of "Yours, Mine and Ours," the Lucille Ball-Henry Fonda movie from my childhood my brothers and I loved so much. (Never saw the remake but heard it sucked.) Turns out Mr. Beardsley was indeed THAT storied father of 20. He died Dec. 11, survived by 60 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He's also survived by a third wife; the "replacement" wife played by Lucy died in 2000, then he re-remarried a year later. RIP, Dad. Read HERE.

That one of my favorite movies growing up too.

A favorite of mine, as well. I don't even acknowledge the remake. The thought of messing with the original is almost--but not quite, as bad as the sacrilege of trying to remake the impeccable "Father of the Bride"!
