(Walter) Reed Thin


 Did a double take when I saw Matthew McConaughey in yesterday's Daily News because he looked so much like my friend Walter, who died of AIDS in the mid-'90s. Turns out Hollywood's biggest hater of shirts lost 30 pounds to play a man with the disease -- Ron Woodroof, an electrician who was diagnosed with AIDS in 1986 but ends up extending his life with a series of alternative medicines that he smuggled into the U.S. from Mexico --- in the new film "The Dallas Buyer's Club." Sadly, my friend was unable to hang on until the protease inhibitors were introduced, although his sharp tongue and even sharper mind live on in all who knew him. Read HERE.
