Louis C.K. to Give 'Louie' a Rest

News broke today that the Louis C.K. will not be making new episodes of his brilliant FX series, "Louie," again until 2014. I can't say this surprises me. Although a season on cable is way shorter than network TV, the fact that he wrote, directed, (usually) edited and starred in every episode had to be exhausting. And while I enjoyed this season, it did seem like he was losing it a bit -- success for an outsider can be dangerous -- taking the whole "about nothing" idea a bit too far, and maybe being a little too artsy for his own good. (At the risk of sounding like Scott Brown, the mother of his children is black? Some weeks he has a brother, some weeks he doesn't? Some weeks he has a sister, some weeks he doesn't?) The interview he gave about recharging and wanting to continue making the show better sounds promising. Better a break than having him turn into another Dave Chappelle, who I hear has become a musclebound recluse. Read HERE.

I'm trying to remember when Louie's wife wasn't black.

This last season has been all over the map. His story arcs are usually having Louie being a doormat for anyone that wants to jerk him around. Half way through each episode you want to slap Louie and tell him to wake up. I especially hated the episode where Louie ends up looking after an insane woman's little boy. The boy does all this crazy shit in Louie's house, Louie doesn't stop him (because he's a doormat), and the boy ends up having diarrhea while taking a bath.
