Song of the Day: 'Right Back Where We Started From' by Maxine Nightingale

Yet another great song that peaked at No. 2. Anyone know what blocked this one from its rightful place at the top?

For the week of May 1, 1976, The Bellamy Brothers "Let Your Love Flow" was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and for the following week, John Sebastian "Welcome Back" spent the week at number one while "Right Back Where We Started From" held at number two for two weeks.

Thanks, Ken! I have to admit, I love both of those songs too. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be!!!!

It's incredible that "Welcome Back" kept Maxine from having a #1 hit. "Right Back Where We Started From" is one of the best feel-good songs of the 70's! "Let Your Love Flow" deserved to be #1, but "Welcome Back" made it because of 'Welcome Back Kotter" and it's popularity.
