RIP / Song of the Day: 'Use It Up and Wear It Out' by Odyssey

Was saddened to hear over the weekend that Lillian Lopez, the lead singer of Odyssey, had passed away. She and her sister Louise (along with Tony Reynolds) fronted the popular '70s disco group responsible for one of the era's best songs, "Native New Yorker," which was my song of the day just three weeks ago. The group gave us another favorite in "Use It Up and Wear It Out," which was a dance hit in 1980 with its catchy "do it all night, do it all night, do it all night long" refrain -- and then again when it was exubertantly covered in 1990 by Pat and Mick. (I can remember that usually being "the" song of the night at Studio One in West Hollywood back in the day, along with "Groove Is in the Heart" and "The Only Way Is Up"!) Lopez was 76 and died after a battle with cancer. RIP, girl.
