For those who kindly asked, the book I am in the process of finishing writing is a collection of essays, in the vein of my blog posts about my childhood, life in New York, etc. According to my literary agent. it's a "memoir," but I have an issue with that word -- memoirs are for famous people -- so will continue to try to avoid using it! Will keep you posted as the process continues. It's still quite early, but I was so shocked I actually buckled down and wrote it that I guess I needed to share the news, however prematurely. I am so happy for you (no matter how early). I wish I could get my lazy ass in gear and do the same.
I don't think of celebrities when I think of "memoir" 'cos a memoir is just a collection of what you remember and/or want to tell about your life. All a memoir requires is to be interesting. Yours is sure to be.
