Having a Ball With Hopper

Fellow fans of Edward Hopper will thoroughly enjoy this New York Times slide show that features photos of what the buildings the artist painted look like today. Click HERE.

FYI: These next two aren't included, but "House at Dusk" is a favorite of mine ...

... as is "Route 6, Eastham."

I really loved this. I don't know when I discovered him--probably in early college when I would hide away in the basement of the library--but I loved his paintings of urban subjects. Even these houses and the paintings of small seaside rooms seemed to be such a world away from my South Dakota farm. I so wanted to live in his world. Work in one of those offices at night, ride in one of those train cars--all that.

Kenneth he grew up in Nyack, NY. You can visit his house on Broadway there. It's been turned into a museum with many of his works on display. Hope you can get up there. Kev and I are there often. -Brian
