After a seven-year absence, British synth-pop savants Saint Etienne are finally back, with the summer-friendly "Words and Music by Saint Etienne," with Richard X and Nick Coler at the controls. I'm enjoying it all -- the reflective "Over the Border," the dancefloor-ready "I've Got Your Music" and the perfect-single-for-radio-to-ignore "Tonight" -- but the standout track has to be the pulsating "Popular," the best song of 2012 that you've probably never heard. (Rich Juzwiak concurs.) Do yourself a favor and listen to this videoless song now. And if you like what you hear, you can download the LP HERE. NPR has it streaming too HERE.
