Kick in the Pants

Via GalleyCat: As if we needed further proof that writers can't get no respect comes news that less than 32% of Kickstarter publishing project get funded, compared to the overall 44% success rate. Music does the best by far, succeeding over 54% of the time, distantly followed by film and video (39.5%) and design (35%). I've actually blogged about two projects that I can think of off the top of my head -- J. Reuben Appelman's book about the Oakland County Child Killer who terrorized my youth, "Murder City Shakedown: A Cold Case Memoir," and Robert Rodi's "Baby" -- and both made the cut. I will just take this to mean that I know how to pick a winner.
