Retirement Roulette

My mom has gotten a little "out there" in her older years -- I should give her a break, though, she lives in Arizona after all -- but one thing she has been spot-on about since I was a tween is the retirement scam otherwise known as 401(k) plans. Rachel Maddow did a wonderful job explaining in laymen's terms last night what Molly has been saying since around 1980. Fortunately, most Americans are smart enough to know that stopping Republicans from turning our Social Security over to the casino is imperative, but a little reminder of what they did to our pensions and our ability to simply save money will light a reminder flame that will burn eternally. Nicely done, Mol -- I mean Rach!

And don't buy all the crap about the expense of pensions being what's destroying companies. Check out Ellen Schultz's "The Retirement Heist: How Companies Plunder and Profit From the Nest Eggs of American Workers" HERE.

And finally, Occupy Wall St. for Dummies: "They're complaining about the fact that Wall Street wrecked the economy three years ago and nobody's been held responsible for that. Not a single person has been indicted or convicted for destroying 20% of our national net worth accumulated over the course of two centuries. They're upset about the fact that Wall Street has iron control over the economic policies of this country, and that one part is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wall Street and the other party caters to them as well!" -- Former Rep. Alan Grayson. (Watch HERE.)
