Right Track, Wrong Train

So I finally caught the pre-gay kid on "Curb Your Enthusiasm" last night. I loved the idea, but the execution left a lot to be desired. For instance, all the liberal New York moms are blind to his tendencies and have a problem with a gender-bending birthday present? (My mom from Nebraska was totally cool with me having dolls and play-kitchen toys in the '70s and '80s when I was a kid and announced at the dinner table one evening that my best friend in 8th grade "had to be gay"!) Even worse, that kid was the worst actor of all time. Like there aren't thousands of actual little boys like that dying to break into show business! I see Hollywood fills gay roles for kids the same way it does for adults. What a pity -- the topic is something that's ripe with possibilities. It's a shame they weren't able to make the most of it.

Not only did my partner's parents get him an Easy Bake Oven for some present when he was growing up - about 10 years back, his mother found an Easy Bake Oven xmas tree ornament, that has vanilla scent.

Yeah - they knew.

I actually thought these scenes were funny. Maybe I'm just used to Hollywood's treatment of gays, but it made me chuckle. I like when he says, "Thank you, Larry." I thought the child actor did OK. It's known that the show does not have a script. It's all improvised using a loose story outline. So, for a child, I thought he improvised fairly well. (I'm sure he was fed a few lines). I still thought it was cute. And for the record, my mom let me play with dolls, Barbies and "girl toys" growing up but she was still in shock when I came out at 19.
