With the end of "don't ask, don't tell"
becoming official this morning, the United States inches its way to being the land of the free that our founding fathers intended it to be. Despite what Michele Bachmann may have told you, what that meant back then was very different than what it means now, but that's the beauty of a civilized society -- it
evolves. (Another word the right has a problem with.) When I see so many of the men and women who were discharged under this hateful law saying they are eager to re-enlist, it truly humbles me. Still a lot of work to be done, but a great day to be an American.
