Despite being down to basically zero scripted shows that I watch -- I liked Season 1 of "How to Make It in America," but they waited so long I may not even tune in when Season 2 starts, and "Hung" was so bad last season I'm not that excited for it to restart -- I still haven't checked out a single one of this fall's new offerings. My friend Greg is raving about "New Girl" and "A Gifted Man," and also is into "Hawaii Five-O" (he's also living temporarily with his parents in Mountain Home, Arkansas, so I take it with a grain of salt). I've seen a bunch of promising reviews of "2 Broke Girls," but it looks pretty contrived to me. Now I'm hearing from a blog pal that "Pan Am" is a must-see -- although I get the feeling it may be just for Mike Vogel, who is no stranger to KIT212. (And who can forget his ass crack in "Blue Valentine"?)
"Friday Night Lights" is over and "Mad Men" doesn't return till 2012. Anyone know of anything I might be missing?

I'm an aviation buff so I watched Pan AM; I wasn't disappointed, but as other reviewers have stated elsewhere "it's not Mad Men." My one gripe is that the men's haircuts aren't authentic being way too long for that era and profession. Mad Men always gets these important details right, plus their script is substantive. The aviation special effects were top drawer however.
I wonder where Pan Am is going...
Strikeback, on Cinemax. Not only is it smart, fast-paced, and well-written, either or both of the male leads usually has rear nudity each episode.
Breaking Bad!!!!
Best show on TV
Funny that you posted this. I just posted on my Facebook wall my insta-reviews of some new scripted shows (I loathe reality TV):
Quick TV review (new shows): I laughed more than I didn't at episode 1 of 2 BROKE GIRLS. Episode 2 was unbearable and unwatchable (was the acting really this bad in ep 1 or was I just happy it wasn't WHITNEY, a show to AVOID, BTW?). While I appreciated the acting in A GIFTED MAN and PERSON OF INTEREST, the premises are goofy enough to suggest that a little of both might go a long way. So, not sure how long I'll keep up with either. Same goes with NEW GIRL (ep 1 was quirk to the 10th power. I hate quirk.)
You get double the Sarah Michelle Gellar, so you get double the unintentionally risible acting in the dreadful RINGER. PRIME SUSPECT pales in comparison to the BBC/Helen Mirren masterpiece, of course, but I enjoyed the first episode. UNFORGETTABLE is the opposite of its title. Looking forward to TERRA NOVA the positive word outweighs the negative, so I'll give it a shot) and SUBURGTORY.
It's official - I watch way too much TV. WAY.
im sill amused that the men on PAN AM have perfectly plucked/groomed eyebrows... i thought the whole secret cia service thing was kinda dumb....but the men are too well groomed..those eyebrows!!
i like 2 broke girls...hate whytney.. looking forward to suburgatory...
my must sees are hawaii 5-0, (hello alex mcL!), glee...even if it sucked last week, raising hope, modern family, parks and rec and big bang (thats the best one of the lot!)
2 1/2 will die a very slow death...

Pan Am - Don't you just love a man in uniform?
The "Pan Am" premiere was a perfect metaphor -- if you were stuck on a flight, it would have been perfectly acceptable entertainment. Otherwise, well, it's on probation. I'll probably stick with it for another episode or two.
I know your issues with the shows and the stars, but you really should be watching the brilliant "Modern Family" and "30 Rock."
I had no intention of watching "Playboy Club" but did in order to see Sean Maher. Not a bad show - at least it has a story. I hope it makes it as I would love for Sean to have a hit.
NEW GIRL (i.e. "That Girl") was unwatchably bad by the 2nd episode. The broken television screen was an unfortunate irony. Crossing my fingers for Terra Nova to at least hold interest in a corny way.
