Boy Meets (Play)Girl

What would you do for a Spondike?

Met a cool blogger online recently who specializes in "vintage" porn, which sounds way more exotic -- and dirtier -- than saying he posts scans of hot old photos from Playgirl and Honcho and the like. (That's plenty erotic for me!) After successfully tracking down my Avon catalog fantasy man from 1981, I've moved on to trying to figure out which issue of Playgirl kept me company back in junior high school, when all the other kids were pairing up and going to dances and, uh, keeping each other company. I was going steady with just one copy -- my guess is that it was either the October, November or December 1981 issue -- it was a "gag" gift my mom received for her 40th birthday from her girlfriends, and her birthday is in late November, yet none of the covers from those three months looks familiar. (In my defense, I'm guessing I wasn't too focused on the cover.) I remember there was one especially erotic layout of a brown-haired man who I vaguely remember was wearing a dress shirt that was open or half-off in several of the pictures. My memory is hazy at this point -- am I confusing him with the mustachioed Avon model Patrick St. Clair? -- but I'm sure I would know him if I saw him. The November issue looks especially promising as the pictures of naked pilots (see the men standing next to planes?) ring a bell -- and also because it has Gregory Harrison in full stripper mode promoting "For Ladies Only," which these magazines clearly were not. Wish me luck. Here's hoping my years of watching the Hard-y boys pays off.

UPDATE: Anyone remember Christopher Atkins' ("A Night in Heaven") spread in Playgirl? Click HERE -- or Gregory Harrison's layout promoting "For Ladies Only"? Click HERE.

If you have any of these issues lying around, shoot me an email. Naturally, I'm on the case ordering them online, but patience was never my strong suit. To do a little research of your own, click HERE.

And then there was that Tom Selleck Salem ad. I remember as a young boy going out into the woods with Sunday's "Parade" magazine and staring at this photo endlessly. I found it for sale on ebay. See the ad here and tell me you don't want to start smoking:
