Chris Richards of The Washington Post has a great interview with former Husker Du and Sugar frontman turned DJ and bear-culture icon Bob Mould HERE.
Some interesting factoids about Mould -- whose new memoir, "See a Little Light: The Trail of Rage and Melody" -- is out now: He was on the short list to produce Nirvana's "Nevermind." He wrote the theme song to "The Daily Show." He calls his relationship with his Husker Du bandmates as dysfunctional -- if not more so -- than his childhood. "And I grew up in one hell of a dysfunctional home.”
I briefly met Bob at the last Blowoff at the Highline Ballroom and he couldn't have been warmer and more friendly -- hardly to be expected from someone whose music had been so angry. We'd had a brief online friendship years ago -- I think he linked my Madonna as Valerie Cherish post on his now-defunct blog he was writing when he lived in Washington -- and he quickly remembered our exchanges and made a point of introducing me to the club's promoter who had invited me and friends that night. Am looking forward to checking out his book, which sounds as juicy as it was (apparently) cathartic for him.
