It's a sad day for New York -- and America -- when someone as gifted and talented as Tony Kushner is dragged through the mud over what was supposed to be an "honor" bestowed upon him, but that's exactly what happened after John Jay College tried to award him an honorary degree. It seems a bit gratuitous to go after a Jew who fully supports Israel's right to exist just because he has been critical of some of its policies and agrees with Israeli historians about the circumstances of its founding.
