RIP, Phoebe Snow

Wow, another timeless singer/songwriter has passed away today. Phoebe Snow died this morning in Edison, N.J., from complications of a brain hemorrhage she suffered in 2010. She was just 58. While perhaps best known for her hit "Poetry Man," the General Foods International Coffees jingle (“Celebrate the Moments of Your Life”) is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of her one-of-a-kind voice. (I LOVED those commercials!) The Star-Ledger has a fascinating obituary about her HERE. (You know, she's NOT black!) RIP, Phoebe. You will be missed.

Pheobe Snow once was honored by a Black Awards Organization. When she showed up for the awartds, they were rather surprized to discover that Ms. Snow is Jewish - not black.

I've always been partial to "Harpo's Blues."

I totally thought she had died years ago. Must have been confused with Minnie Ripperton.

I also loved the music she did for the movie Noah's Arc Jumping the Broom--she also "played" the music performer at the wedding reception (for 2 very hot gay men!)
