Casting 'Real Housewives of New York City: The Movie'

This little sidebar didn't make it online, but Patrick Huguenin really outdid himself in The N.Y. Daily News when he cast "Real Housewives of NYC: The Movie" (Kristen Wiig as Ramona Singer -- pure genius!!). Here's his take:

The New York "Housewives" take season 4 cues from "Sex and the City 2" -- including a trip to Morocco that recalls Bradshaw's camel trek. But what would happen if they inspired a movie of their own? Who would play the sassy seven?

* Daryl Hannah as Alex McCord: The Brooklyn-based housewife gets a modeling contract in season 4. Daryl Hannah could cozy up to hubby Simon, played by Eddie Izzard.

* Paz de la Huerta at Kelly Bensimon: Party-happy Paz might understand kooky Kelly's inner monologue.

* Catherine Zeta-Jones as LuAnn de Lesseps: It takes screen royalty to play a countess. And the Oscar winner's pipes make her perfect to perform LuAnn's song "Money Can't Buy You Class."

* Meryl Streep as Sonja Morgan: Are the "Housewives" too lowbrow for Meryl? Never! Think how she could chew the scenery as the sexpot labeled "a thug in a cocktail dress."

* Kristen Wiig as Ramona Singer: The "SNL" comic has the right crazy-eyed quirks for Ramona's scenes of dancing, dishing and yacht-hopping.

* Fran Drescher as Jill Zarin: The "Nanny" star is Zarin's first choice. "That's who's supposed to play me, hello!" she says. "That's my pick. I'll stick with it."

* Cindy Crawford as Cindy Barshop: The new cast member isn't only a firebrand, she's stunning. Let's see another Cindy as the entrepreneurial single mom.
