Bradley Cooper Pulls a Ryan Reynolds

The blogosphere is abuzz about the implausible story Bradley Cooper told at a talk at the New York Times about the time he was told by his agent that he wasn't "fuckable" enough. Although the "not fuckable" enough thing seems HILARIOUS now, my bf and I have been saying this about Bradley for the last few years or so: He didn't just inexplicably start getting meatier roles -- he totally pulled a Ryan Reynolds.

Ryan, too, was handsome, adorable, whatever all along. But somewhere around 2005 he took it up a notch at the gym (lost weight, gained muscle) and was suddenly a leading man.

Around that same time, Cooper was starring on TV shows ("Alias" and "Kitchen Confidential") (that I didn't watch) and doing supporting roles, like in "The Wedding Crashers" (in which I didn't even notice him). By 2007, however, when he appeared all but nude on "Nip/Tuck," Cooper was a completely new man -- a leading man -- and Hollywood took notice. Things have gotten progressively better as his star has begun to rise -- culminating in his A-list "A Team" bod.

Whether or not we want to say there was "help" involved isn't really the point (right now), but that agent was on to something: Bradley is definitely WAY MORE fuckable now than he used to be.

I concur... Though could it have something to do with AGE? As in, he's now a MAN! I've said it before, what was my girl Jennifer Esposito thinking?

The first time I saw Bradley Cooper was the pilot episode of Alias. In his first scene, he and Sydney (Jennifer Garner) were running at a track, and he was shirtless. I can't remember my exact thought upon seeing him, but it most definitely wasn't "wow, that guy sure isn't fuckable." I daresay it was closer to the opposite. Sure, he didn't have the body he has now, but he looked pretty damn hot to me. Between him and Michael Vartan (whatever happened to him?), there was enough eye candy to keep me very happy (I loved the show even without it, but a little eye candy never hurts). Anyway, as hot as he is now, Cooper was nothing to sneeze at back then.

Aren't they both pulling a McConaughey?

@Frank: YES, good point I forgot to mention.

@James2k: I think you're on to something, except the FIRST time I saw McConaughey was in "Boys on the Side" and I remember the body being the main thing I remember. No?

@Kenneth Walsh - I guess I was referring to Dazed and Confused Matthew McConaughey - before the buff bod and the hair plugs.

@James2k9: Yeah, forgot about that. I think I'm the ONLY person in the world who didn't see "Dazed and Confused" when it came out. I did see it last year though!
