ONJ Makes a Good Thing Better

I'm pretty much willing to concede that this medley from Olivia Newton-John's network TV special in 1978 -- featuring ABBA and Andy Gibb -- is about as good as life gets. Not sure what makes me happier, when Olivia whips out a few seconds of "Please Mr. Please" (swoon -- you won't ever catch me playing B-17) or the vacant looks on Agnetha and Frida's faces when Andy launches into "I Just Want to Be Your Everything," and it's completely obvious they have no idea what he's saying -- possibly where they even are!

How do you say confused in Swedish?

And this segment might even be better, as one commenter called it, "What happens when you die and go to '70s heaven!"

You see this, Tammy Nicholas? I'm not the only guy who sings the girls parts when Olivia Newton-John is involved.

Don't forget that Abba beat ONJ at the Eurovision, because although she was Australian, she was born in Britain and she represented Britain in the Eurovision. The Gibb family were also resident in Australia, and that is how they became famous...in fact ONJ and the Brothers Gibb all appeared on variety shows in Australia in the 60's. The fact that all three of them appeared on the SAME show at the same time, is more than disco heaven, it's the disco pantheon of the Gods.

ABBA / ONJ / Andy Gibb on a Friday morning - could it get any better. I stood in line at White Flint Mall in Bethesda, MD to see Andy G that year along with about 1000 screaming girls - how did I not realize I was gay then? J

OK, that is just so odd -- I saw that clip for the first time last night on YouTube (it was one of the 'suggestions' when I was checking another ONJ clip) and then it's spotlighted on your site this morning. Can one OD on '70s heaven?

I didn't know this existed- this is the gay equivalent of finding the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Love it. This special could only be more white bread with the possible addition of Leo Sayer. I miss Andy Gibb

Olivia is tremendous. I loved it that she forced all the guest stars to sing along with her songs. She was and is so beautiful.

What a wonderful orgasm of talent! I'm pretty sure that if I had seen this on telly when it originally aired, my head would have exploded & there would have been glitter and feathers everywhere!

How did I not know about this before?
