At Walmart, the Customer Really Is Always Right

Four employees at Walmart in Layton,, Utah, say they were fired for disarming a gunman caught shoplifting. Walmart said their actions had "violated company policy" and put their fellow workers and shoppers at risk. I applaud Walmart for looking out for its customers. I feel much safer knowing that in the future, armed shoppers who aren't content paying bargain-basement prices can go about their business without these annoying employees getting in the way. Besides, you wouldn't want to run the risk of offending the lucrative gun-buying demographic.

They risked their lives and the lives of the customers for some stupid electronic crap. If someone had died or was injured Walmart would be sued.

I think what they mean by "put[ting] their fellow workers and shoppers at risk" is that, had the employees failed to disarm the guy, he could have shot someone (even if by accident). Well, I think that is extremely likely to happen, so I would be happier if they just let the robber leave, and then call the police.

p.s. Sorry, if I missed any irony in your post.
