Transgeneration

As we lament the latest congressional failure to end government-sanctioned discrimination against gay and lesbian members of the U.S. military, I take some consolation in seeing our transgender brothers and sisters receiving increasingly positive -- and mainstream -- attention. Granted, they only wish they were "as discriminated" against as gays and lesbians -- sorry, you're about 40 years behind us! -- but The New York Times has an upbeat article about the myriad ways in which transgender men and women are becoming more accepted in society, and they didn't even make mention of the LPGA's recent decision to abolish the "female at birth" rule for its players.
