Sorry to read that Steve Landesberg -- best known as Det. Sgt. Arthur P. Dietrich on "Barney Miller" -- died today at 74. While my inexplicable "attraction" (at age 8) was clearly on Barney and Wojciehowicz (I know, even with the toup -- but those pants), it was Harris and Dietrich who always made me laugh. Thanks, Steve. You will be missed.

I was probably around 12-13 when I watched it on Nick At Nite and Wojciehowicz definitely did it for me as well. Swoon!
And although I don't remember the Dietrich character very clearly … RIP, Steve Landesberg.
He was only 65? He's looked exactly the same for the past 20 years.
The NYT article was corrected for Landesberg's age, which was actually 74.
Wojciehowicz was da bomb!
