Ask any longtime New Yorker and you'll hear the same complaint about the city, how it's "not what it used to be" -- it's nothing but "banks and drugstores." I concur, but would add "nail salons" to that short list. (Still trying to figure out how "gay" Chelsea can support 10 nail spas on each block.) Ever the optimist, I do find that this otherwise disturbing trend is good for one thing -- seeing which joint will outdo the next with their ever-creative names. I've enjoyed a couple of manicures at Fancie Nail (Is that the one on 21st & 8th? I think the mens like getting mani/pedis more often now. I know I enjoy them (When I have the extra $!)
