Tree Arrives in Rockefeller Center

Spotted the arrival of the big Christmas tree over at Rockefeller Center this morning. CNN reports that the 74-foot tall Norway spruce weighs approximately 12 tons and was cut Thursday in Mahopac, N.Y. It will be lit for the first time on Tuesday, Nov. 30.

what a waste of a perfectly good tree. With global warming caused by gasses which trees eliminate wouldn't it be smarter to be planting trees instead of cutting them down?

I agree. Why do they need to cut down a perfectly fine tree in order to display it for two months.

With all the talk about conservation and the green initiative, I'm surprised an alternative hasn't been approached.
