It looks like Perez Hilton is engaged in an almost embarrassingly one-sided "Twitter war" with Chelsea Handler, after ripping her performance as host of last night's MTV Video Music Awards. (Did he remove a tweet that used the word "bomb"?) Although a lot of people thought this might be the perfect venue for Chelsea's bawdy brand of humor, hardcore fans know that stand-up really isn't her strongest suit -- it's the roundtable where she excels, reacting off of the news of the day and other people's observations about it, where you have to get to know the cast of regulars to really be in on the jokes -- so I thought she did about as well as I expected. (The show was the highest-rated since 2002, by the way, and I never think the hosts of these kind of three-ring circus events "make" or "break" its outcome anyway.) That Perez has decided to call her out on "sucking" so bad -- and calling her out again ... and again -- has me wondering if he'll be back on "Chelsea Lately" anytime soon. Her contempt for Perez has been noticeable during past appearances, but back then you got the sense that she felt she almost needed him more than he needed her. With three HUGE books and a string of A-listers now stopping by the show, something tells me she's not feeling that way anymore. And if she's looking for a gay gossip blogger to fill his spot, she needn't look any further!
