Saturday in the Park 2

Enjoying the Federer-Djokovic semifinal on a gorgeous day in Madison Square Park with a few hundred other tennis freaks!

UPDATE: As you probably know, Djokovic won in five thrilling sets. Although I'm a HUGE Federer fan, even since he broke Pete Sampras' Grand Slam record -- oh, and finally won the French Open -- I no longer obsessively root for him. I still love him, and think he's the greatest player of all time. But he's clearly on the decline -- Fed 1.0 would have never allowed this match to slip away -- and I'm happy when other players hold their nerve and outplay the "old-timer."

Kenneth -- I too root for good tennis and am happy to see a tightly contested match go to the winner. I've been a huge Fed fan, and he has had/is having quite a remarkable career. Indeed, he is at the top of the "Best of All Time" list.

Question though: can he be the best of all time when there is another player who bests him? Assume Rafa does not win as many slam events, clearly, though, he has beaten Fed on all 3 surfaces and holds a 7-2 slam record over Fed (plus of course, Rafa already owns the Master's title record too).

Truly a tough call. But for tennis fans, their rivalry is unlike any before. At all other times, there were a handful of top contenders (Borg, Conners, McEnroe, Lendl). Here there are Fed and Rafa, owners of 24 of the last 27 slam events (soon to be 25 of 28 should Rafa earn his career slam). Lucky us.
