2010 VMA: Hits and Misses

I tried to watch the Video Music Awards last night -- mainly because my girl Chelsea Handler was hosting -- but I quickly lost interest. After a funny opening bit with Lindsay Lohan, whom Chelsea rips mercilessly on her nightly talk show, and a clever Lady Gaga sight gag, the show turned into the usual MTV awards show, where I didn't care about any of the artists and the acceptance speeches made me cringe. (ENOUGH with the Little Monsters, Gaga. And the new album title ... mwwwuuuaah!) The only thing that made it worth glancing at periodically were a few hot men and an old drag queen who did a fierce Cher impersonation!

His Lips Are Sealed: Penn Badgley

Shout it Out With 'Glee': Cory Monteith
Wolfman Jacked: Joe Manganiello

'Facebook' Friends: Justin Timberlake, Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield

Frozen Embryos Thawed: Jared Leto won a VMA with 30 Seconds to Mars

If She Could Turn Back Time

Rosario Dawson and Chris Pine: the night's hottest presenters

Papa Don't Preach: Robyn channels her inner-Madonna

Chelsea didn't seem comfortable in that role and wasn't funny, unfortch (though I'm not a fan, I thought it might be a good match). I thought the Lindsay sketch was really literal and forced. I thought the show looked fantastic, if only I cared about most of the performers (which I don't, again, unfortch).

Cher looked great on TV and a little less so in still photos, but it was a fun thing for her to go along with and I'm glad GaGa got her due.

P.S. The word verification is ironic, considering Chelsea: "lushasts"
