Good Night, and Good Luck

If you're a night owl like I am, then you've undoubtedly spent many hours watching "World News Now" -- ABC's long-running overnight news broadcast. While I enjoyed keeping company in the wee hours with a stable of handsome news anchors -- with Ryan Owens, Ron Corning, David Muir and Anderson Cooper all alumni, just try to convince me the person in charge of this operation isn't a gay man -- it seems one thing remained constant: Mr. Peter Grimm, who has been stage manager on the show for the last 17 years. Longevity in the news business is rare these days. But when you hear what all of his former anchors have to say about him as they bid him a happy retirement, it becomes obvious why he was so revered. Congrats, Peter! You'll always be the late-night Skipper to me.

Peter Grimm doesn't look terribly old. Is he "retiring" by being pushed out in the ABC News downsizing?

I would wake up at 4am on the West Coast to see David Muir every morning. (did he roll up his sleeves, how far is his shirt unbuttoned, has he tousled his hair, argh...)

I was actually a bit ashamed by that.... but then I found out he was gay and (sadly) in a LTR
