Page 1 Consider (03/18)

  • No Laughing Matter: Kathy Griffin, seen with Arianna Huffington at Ris restaurant in Washington, wore her lobbyist hat for a day, urging lawmakers on Capitol Hill to repeal "don't ask, don't tell." (Reliable Source)

  • Good Call: Note to conservatives, how about leaving animals out of gay-marriage talking points? (S.E. Cupp)

  • He Asked, They Told: Moving portraits of gay men and lesbians in the armed services, faces hidden, were taken by Jeff Sheng for his book, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell," available now. Sheng says that closeted servicemembers frequently contact him wanting to be photographed after seeing his work -- not because they want to endanger their careers, but because they felt they needed to take some kind of stand, even if it's done anonymously. (NYT)

  • Careless Text: Of course George Michael is on Grindr. (LondonNet)

  • Myopic 'Mos: There's nothing more annoying than fags who "don't approve" of same-sex marriage. (Then DON'T get married, jackass!) (WaPo) And screw you, Karl Lagerfeld. Like anyone wants to marry your freakish face anyway. (Vice)

  • HIV? Negative: The insurance company Fortis, now known as Assurant Health, targeted policyholders with HIV, revoking their insurance shortly after diagnosis. The insurance company was ordered to pay $10 million. With insurance companies like this, who needs reform? (Reuters)

  • The Spy Who Loved Me(n): A new report claims the CIA's failed attempt to flip a gay terrorist slash VIP greeter for Malaysian Airlines helped enable 9/11 to happen. (Observer)

  • Kids in America: A new report shows that support for same-sex marriage among college freshmen has increased by 9 percentage points in the past decade. (Advocate)

  • Long Live Kenny Loggins!: Is the floppy hair look back to stay? (Observer)

  • Hate Speech Not Protected: A state appeals court says a 15-year-old boy whose Web site was flooded with anti-gay slurs and threats can sue a schoolmate who admitted posting a menacing message but described it as a joke. (SFGate)

  • Queer Medicine?: A small but significant portion of medical studies exclude gays from participating, sometimes without an apparent scientific reason, several cancer researchers say. This cannot be good for our long-term health. (AP)

  • RIP: It's with enormous sadness that I blog about the passing of Alex Chilton. If there were a Hall of Underappreciated for musicians, Chilton would be the first one admitted. However, he was anything but underappreciated by me. He was just 59 and it sounds like his death was completely unexpected. Me and all the September Gurls will miss ya, Alex. (AP)
