"I don't really care for [Lady Gaga]. I know everybody think she's really great, and fashion people are happy because she's one of the few girls who will wear a look off the runway. But having grown up with people like Debbie Harry and Alice Cooper and Kiss, I just don't really see anything very original about what she's doing. I don't like her style. I find it to be very violent. She looks like Dolly Parton after a murder." -- Fashion PR powerhouse Kelly Cutrone

The image of Dolly Parton after a murder IS fantastic! And the fact that Debbie Harry, KISS and Alice Cooper haven't had much in the way of full-on-freak protégés for 20 years is exactly why GaGa is so welcome. She is a disco stick in the eye of the corporate cloned pop stars we've been saddled with since the late 80s.
LOL - I totally agree!!!!
Wow.
;) peace
Lady Gaga looks and sounds like something that Kate Bush would keep locked away in her attic, like a precious treasure. We need her.
To follow up my first post, I too grew up on KISS (hell, my mom painted us kids up and we had a concert on the front yard!) and Dolly Parton. Guy singers wore make-up and Annie Lennox wore suits. EVERYBODY in the pop world embraced their freak. It was awesome.
Since the first time I saw GaGa, I thought she was the love child of Elton and Bette Midler... who was raised by Grace Jones..... at a moon-based boarding school.

To the extent that there really aren't any original ideas anymore, and everything old is new again, I don't know why this nasty canker of a woman's opinions should be seen as anything other her feathering her own nest.
