  • Lions and Tigers and Fags -- Oh My! A member of Missouri Southern State University's board of governors has resigned, two days after using a gay slur during a meeting. David Ansley announced his resignation Monday in a long statement apologizing for what he called his "unacceptable comment." During Saturday's board meeting, Ansley praised a revamped logo adopted two years ago for Missouri Southern athletics. He described the new logo as a "ferocious lion" and used a homosexual slur to describe the lion shown in the previous logo. (KC)

  • Brown and Yellow: Five Republican senators broke ranks with their party on Monday to advance a $15 billion job-creation measure put forward by Democrats, which The Times is calling "a rare bipartisan breakthrough after months in which Republicans had held together to a remarkable degree in an effort to thwart President Obama’s agenda." Naturally, these renegade senators only did so AFTER Scott Brown voted for the bill. (NYT)
